Our 2nd Annual SMF Electric Fly-in for
Charity was held on
September 9th and 10th, 2011.
We had beautiful blue skies and warm weather all day
long.
Thank You to all of the pilots and visitors that
turned out to support the event.

Our 12th Annual Big Bird Fly-in was a very good and
well attended event.
We had the pleasure
of having our AMA representative, VP Bliss Teague,
and the IMAA President, Bill Hamby, in attendance.
Both of these
gentlemen were very impressed with our field and the number
of registered pilots we had.
Visit our Pictures page or click here for some
great shots of fly-in.
Also, check out the video of Trent Wilhelm's electric B-17
and bomb drop.
Even though the day was cool
and we had a low hanging cloud cover,
the rain held off and
we had a great day flying.
Thank You to everyone that
attended!!

Our SMF Electric Fly-in for Charity was held on
with
all proceeds having gone to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County.
The event was a success as we surpassed our
fundraiser goals and we were able to
present
a considerable Gift of Compassion.
Thank You to all that came together to support and
make this event possible.
Also, a big Thank
You goes out to all of our Sponsors
who
generously donated items for our Charity fund raiser.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
3 Dec 08
Everyone needs to
know the correct procedure for locking the main gate at our John Long Road
flying field.
Our lock must be looped inside the city lock.
Not into the chain beyond
the city lock!!!
If our lock is locked
into the chain beyond the city lock, the city will not be able to unlock the
gate. In this case the city will simply cut our lock off and we will have to
buy another lock.
Even worse, if this
happens, the city will lock the gate back with their lock only and we will not
be able to access the field until we get the city to unlock the gate. This will not usually happen on a weekend!
The reason for this
notice is that the gate was found locked incorrectly on Thanksgiving Day.
Luckily we found the
mistake, and not the city.
Happy holidays!

1Lt. CAP, Commander, Iredell Composite Squadron,
NC Wing Civil Air Patrol
I want to thank you very much for letting members of
the Iredell Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, visit the flying field on
